We're laying down roof decking on an early January morning on the Coast of Lake Michigan (the greatest inland sea in the world). The air temperature is holding at five below zero with a steady twenty mile per hour wind that is giving us gusts frequently in the 30's and 40's. The Lake is roiling with five foot plus waves. Between the wind and the waves we can't hear one another just a few feet away. The compressor won't stay running because of the cold, so we have to hand nail (just like the old days). Honestly, can it get any better than this?
Could we name our building company anything but Coastline Building?
Some years have passed since, but that feeling of working with what was being thrown at us instead of fighting against it, is still with us today. We may not build every project on the Big Lake now, but that idea of working with the elements of nature remains (We equally enjoy what the beach can throw at us when the temperature swings one hundred degrees warmer).
Our Mission
With all that said, we believe what the summertime Coastline suggests: Warm gentle breezes comforting you. Soothing rhythms of waves lapping on the shore. Serene sunsets quieting the day's activities. A chance to reflect, to dream, to capture the promise of tomorrow.
Comforting. Soothing. What your home should be. A place for activities and gathering, then a place for Serenity and Reflection.
Be it the Coast or the inland areas of Southwest Michigan, Coastline Building is dedicated to capturing those ideas in the home we design and build for you. It is our desire that the entire process of building or remodeling your home should be an adventure enjoyed.
